Chronicle of Extinction (2021–ongoing)

Chronicle of Extinction (2021–ongoing) is a project dedicated to documenting extinct species. Through printed scores, each work lists 12 members of a specific extinct species, naming them in full according to scientific taxonomy, which classifies species by genus, phylum, and other categories.

The prints are visually formatted like musical scores, inviting future interpretation and performance by various actors and participants. The transformation of scientific lists of extinct species into an emotional, performative act creates a communal human space for reflection on biodiversity, extinction, and humanity’s role in protecting the natural world.

Supported by the Berlin Senate research grant in 2021, this ongoing project adds twelve new books to the series each year, expanding its scope and deepening its engagement with themes of loss and memory.
