SET & ALGORITHM (2016)
SET & ALGORITHM is a playwright structured as a conversation between two distinct identities, "Set" and "Algorithm." These identities, rooted in concepts from computer science, are treated as psychograms. A Set is defined as a collection of data, while an Algorithm represents the process or rules applied to the Set for calculations and problem-solving.
The work explores Set and Algorithm as self-growing, partially autonomous systems, looking into themes of contemporary language, power relations, logic, and mathematics. It questions the autonomy and logic of computer science and their broader implications for understanding computational processes.
First presented in 2016 as a theatrical dialogue performed by Tatiana Echeverri Fernandez and Elly Clarke, SET & ALGORITHM was part of the exhibition Data Mining Kiosk at the Nationalmuseum in Berlin.
The structure of the play features two voices, Set and Algorithm, each presented on individual pages designed like playing cards. These cards can be turned independently or sequentially, following their numerical order.

KP's interest in computer technology dates back to 1999. Having completed a Master’s in Computer Science in 2003, KP has been deeply engaged with systems of surveillance, technology, computer code, and perception.
