24 Flyers for public space (2025)
Substance (2024)
Substance is a public artwork presented as flyers distributed throughout public spaces in Berlin. Designed to engage passersby directly, Substance makes use of prints and posters displayed in the street environment, glued onto walls and streetlamps.
The work draws attention to 24 different groups of pesticides used in agricultural and natural environments. Each flyer provides a detailed explanation of its usage, covering categories such as insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, acaricides, biocides, and more.
The project confronts the fatal synthetic reshaping of living environments and is part of the archive Chronicle of Extinction. It also draws a historical line back to the Agricultural Revolution (1815–1880), a period marked by advances in soil chemistry and the rising use of chemical fertilizers. These practices, which expanded explosively a century later, laid the groundwork for today’s large-scale dependence on synthetic substances and the ecological crises addressed in the work Impact (2023-2025).
